We asked Karen…

How did you get started in the industry?

I studied whilst working full time (before children I might add). When leaving school Accountancy was never really an option. I am so pleased I got that first Purchase Ledger clerk role it did help to give me a direction where I could still help people just in a different way.

What do you enjoy most about working for this company?

When I first came to meet Steph and Natalie, they talked to me about what they offer to their clients and the team that they have. A small firm with a great team helping all clients to ease the burden of their businesses accounting, which I am now grateful to be a part of.

What is your favourite biscuit to eat the office?

All biscuits would be eaten and anyone in the office would say any biscuit is ok with me – but if I was pushed to pick a favourite, I would choose something like a chocolate cookie with chocolate coating (I am a chocolate kind of girl).

What advice would you give to new employees or people starting their journey in Accounting?

Work hard, you will be confused at times and feel it is too much but if you find a good team and a nice environment to work in don’t leave, try and progress your career within that environment.  The grass isn’t always greener somewhere else!
